BLUE MASS HONORING POLICE, FIREFIGHTERS AND OTHER SERVICE PEOPLE

A Blue Mass will be held on September 15th to honor those service people that provide protection to us, as well as our property. These would be the policemen (and women), sheriffs, CHP, firemen (and women) and the various armed services. The Blue Mass will be celebrated in St. Raphael’s Church starting at 6:00 pm. A buffet dinner will be served afterwards in the Parish Hall. A representative and their spouses from each of the services will be invited to attend the Mass and receive a complimentary dinner. Also invited to attend, and participate in, are the members and wives of Councils 1684, 5300 and 13756. In light of the recent fires we have seen, this will an opportunity to show our appreciation to those who have put their lives on the line for us. Cost and other details be discussed in later Navigators.

INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS AND BAR-B-QUE

On Saturday, July 26th, we had the Installation of Officers for the coming Columbian Year. This was presided over by our Worthy Master of the Central District, Manual Lima. Also assisting him was Ernie Bingham, the Worthy Marshall for the Central District. Afterwards we had the Bar-B-Que meal that had been planned for the 4th of July, but was canceled due to the recent fire. Everybody had a good time due to the efforts of our cook for the day, Carlos Valenzuela and his partner. Thanks also go to those that brought salads, appetizers and desserts. Many thanks also go to my wife, Christa, who prepared the beans and made sure that things kept moving. A special thanks go to Felix and Julie Sanchez for helping to set-up, taking care of the drinks, helping Christa as well as clean-up afterwards.

THANK YOU

I want to express my gratitude to all of you that voted for me to be your next Faithful Navigator. At the Installation I was handed a document that lists all of the Faithful Navigators for this Assembly, dating back to 1940. This means that I am succeeding a long line of Faithful Navigators who have developed our Assembly into what it is today. I will do my best to keep the “torch lit”.

Jack Turney,
Faithful Navigator
